Supporting Students during Covid-19

Updated on April 15, 2020 — One month after launching our scholarship program, we’re excited to share that we’ve surpassed our goal of helping 10,000 students. In fact, we’ve awarded over 100,000 Pro scholarships to students around the globe.

Now, we’re turning our attention to those that have lost their jobs or have been furloughed as a result of COVID-19. We want to give Pro to 100,000 impacted workers and we can only accomplish this ambitious goal together. Learn how you can help.

At Codecademy, we wake up every morning to try to connect millions of people around the world with economic opportunity.

In the wake of an unprecedented crisis around the world with COVID-19, we’ve been thinking about how we can help amidst dramatic shifts in the way the world learns (with school closures) and the world works (with an unbelievable amount of companies working remote).

Today, we’re announcing our first step: offering 10,000 scholarships to Codecademy Pro for free to high school and college students across the world for the rest of the school year.

Codecademy Pro includes unlimited Codecademy programming, data science, and mobile development curriculum, a community of peers, and paths to help students be successful. Our hope is that, while educational institutions are trying to catch up to remote learning, we can provide a service that helps fill the gaps and perhaps expose millions of students to a skill that will be helpful to their future. Moving to remote learning is hard, and we’ve been working on solutions for teachers, students, and adult learners for a while now. Millions of learners around the world have used Codecademy to learn the most important digital skills of the twenty-first century, and we hope we can be helpful now as well.

Everyone at Codecademy is working as hard as we can to help our learners. In a time of uncertainty in global health, we think learning can help fill an important gap by adding purpose, growth, and economic opportunity.
